July 15, 2023 — Founded Firm

Established Messrs Amely Khoo & Co. as Managing Partner, bringing expertise in corporate disputes, shareholders matters, and civil litigation to serve clients across Malaysia.

Upon obtaining her first degree, Amely had the opportunity to work as a Marketing Executive in Phillip Capital Malaysia located in Penang. She was tasked with the expansion of the business volume of clients’ investing with on and off-shore investments. Her leading portfolio was to study and compare various funds’ performance and assist agents with incorporation and conduct seminars for existing and potential investors.

Subsequently, Amely pursued legal education and graduated with an Honours LLB from the University of London and completed her Certificate of Legal Practice in 2017.  As she read Law as part of her post-degree, she is driven by the strong desire to speak up against injustice and to right the wrongs.

Over the years, Amely has built a strong practice in corporate and commercial dispute resolution, representing clients in a broad spectrum of matters, including company and shareholders’ disputes, contractual disputes, fraud and conspiracy claims, employment disputes, injunction proceedings, winding-up petitions, as well as Land Acquisition and Land Reference proceedings. She is known for her strategic thinking, meticulous preparation, and unwavering commitment to protecting her clients’ interests.

In 2021, Amely joined Messrs Foo Hiap Siong & Co. as a Senior Associate, where she further honed her advocacy and litigation skills in civil dispute resolution. Her practice also expanded to include drafting and advising on commercial agreements for both domestic and international clients, preparing copyright documentation in intellectual property matters, and advising clients in passing-off proceedings. Her dedication, leadership, and outstanding performance led to her promotion as a Salaried Partner at the end of 2022.

On 15 July 2023, Amely embarked on a new chapter in her career by establishing Messrs Amely Khoo & Co. The firm reflects her vision of providing legal services that combine technical excellence with genuine care for her clients. Drawing on years of experience across diverse areas of practice, Amely is committed to delivering practical, commercially sound, and results-oriented legal solutions while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

In addition to being an advocate and solicitor, Amely is also a registered Trademark Agent, enabling her to provide comprehensive intellectual property advisory services. Recognising that not every dispute should end in a courtroom, she has undertaken formal mediation training and firmly believes that a negotiated settlement often serves clients better than prolonged litigation. In her view, an agreement crafted through mediation allows both parties to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome with tailored terms that address their unique needs, rather than leaving the court to declare one side the winner and the other the loser.

Whether advocating fearlessly in court or facilitating constructive negotiations, Amely approaches every matter with passion, empathy, and determination. She believes that the practice of law is not merely about winning cases—it is about protecting rights, preserving relationships where possible, and helping clients move forward with confidence.
